Jay Mulligan

John Joseph Mulligan born in South Boston, MA.1966. Educated at Brockton High School and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Southeastern Massachusetts University, N. Dartmouth, MA. Jay is a member of the South Boston Arts Association.

Aside from being an accomplished artist, Jay holds the honor of being the first winner of the “Win Your Own Pub In Ireland” contest sponsored by Guinness. In addition to his publican duties at Connie Doolans Pub in Cobh, Co. Cork and as an International Spokesman for Guinness, Jay managed to do quite a bit of traveling while living in Ireland. The sights he saw and people he met during his time abroad-inspired Mulligan. Over the past decade he has created numerous original acrylic paintings from volumes of photographs taken of the landscapes, people and pub scenes. His bold, vivid unique style is well suited to capture the vibrant color and spirit of Ireland.

Mulligan has had several one-man exhibitions in Boston Galleries, Coffee Shops and also Pubs. Jay’s paintings and prints are held in private collections and Pubs throughout the United States and Ireland. Mulligan continues his painting from his Quincy home/studio,and is also working on a book and possibly a film depicting his escapades of winning a Pub in and gallivanting around lreland.
